Is Olive Oil Good for Your Hair?
In this story

Welcome back, yogis! Today, I’m going to talk about something that has absolutely changed the game when it comes to my well-being and beauty routine: olive oil!

Olive oil has experienced a renaissance in popularity over the last decade, thanks to a slew of studies proving its superiority to seed- and vegetable-based oils. For example, the types of fatty acids contained in olive oil have been proven to reduce inflammation and help prevent damage from stress.

After many years of suffering from various digestive issues, I decided to make a serious shake-up in my diet. The change that made the biggest difference was incorporating coconut and olive oil shots before breakfast and after dinner. After years of having trouble sleeping due to heartburn, the immediate relief I felt after this simple change was enough to make me a believer.

As I’ve recently learned, however, olive oil’s benefits go beyond helping your body internally. The unique properties of the tannins and other compounds contained within the oil make it an ideal addition to your skin and beauty routine!

Tannins are polyphenols, a group of organic chemical compounds used to help plants fight against the elements and germs. These chemicals contain a bounty of beneficial health benefits for human beings, and olives just so happen to be chock full of them.

The same tannins found in olive oil that helped me with my internal inflammation are also excellent remedies for external sources. Olive oil can provide relief for skin conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis and even help reduce the severity of dandruff outbreaks.

The oil also makes for an incredible conditioner for your hair. I’ve always struggled with dry, frizzy hair (thanks, mom!) that took a ton of product to get under control. Incorporating olive oil has simplified that process considerably.

The oil works for your hair by smoothing the cuticles and sealing in moisture on each follicle. The oil also makes your hair look significantly healthier and luxurious by feeding it vitamins and antioxidants.

While I’ve gone on about the benefits of olive oil, you can’t simply pick up any bottle at the grocery store and expect to get incredible results. Much of what you see at your local Vons will be diluted with less beneficial oils and low-quality industrial-pressed products.

The key to getting the best results is by using the best possible products. Using traditionally pressed, certified organic Italian olive oil will help retain all the compounds that make it beneficial. Shayna’s Kitchen olive oil is one of the only trustworthy sources of this nectar of the gods to be found stateside.

Shayna’s Kitchen supplies a variety of beauty and health products designed to keep you beautiful inside and out. The company’s selection of cold-pressed olive oil comes directly from a traditionally run farm in the rolling hills outside of Milan.

An oil that helps fight heartburn, keeps your hair looking beautiful, and tastes great on salad: what’s not to love? Get yours today to keep your skin smooth and your hair safe from frizz from Shayna’s Kitchen:
