Opening A Marijuana Store: Security Compliance Solutions
In this story

These days, it seems like there are so few of us who intentionally slow down.

As a yogi and teacher, I’m no stranger to the energy that consumes us all—the pressure to achieve things, buy things, go places, see places, and more.

My passion for holistic wellness is what led my curiosity for alternatives to Western medicine, discovering paths to healing and relaxation. Over the years, my personal wellness goals have expanded beyond learning and mastering yoga. I have never stopped being curious about what else is out there.

One of the challenges I have is anxiety. Yoga has helped me tremendously in dealing with this challenge. Deep breathing and engaging my muscles through my mind have taught me how to be grounded even when my body is physically challenged. But at the end of the day, I need other methods to purely relax, without physical activity.

Cannabis and CBD have helped balance my mood and alleviate muscle pain, allowing me to feel fully replenished after a night’s sleep.

Naturally, my entrepreneurial quest has always been to offer others the services and products that have helped me in my own life. I have dreamt and pondered opening a grow facility and retail store that feels as safe and inviting as my yoga studio. My goal for the store would be to help people in the same way my studio does, which is helping people discover therapeutic wellness solutions and alternatives to Western medicine.

However, owning and operating a business in the cannabis industry would be completely different than running a yoga studio. The cannabis industry is strictly regulated, as it should, and specific security requirements must be met to ensure compliance and public safety.

Cannabis is still an evolving sector in an ever-changing political landscape. Cannabis is mostly regulated at the state level. California’s laws for marijuana businesses and facilities are outlined by the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC). The BCC regulates commercial licensing, with requirements that are designed to prevent unauthorized access and theft. Compliance with these laws is designed to promote the safety of everyone who consumes or commercializes marijuana, as well as the general public. I will be consulting with ccsecuritysolutions.com to ensure that my security plans are compliant with regulations.

Hours of operation
Retailers can sell cannabis goods between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Your city or county can set more restrictive hours. This means:
An in-store sales transaction must be finished by 10:00 p.m.
Delivery drivers must return to the retail premises no later than 10:00 p.m.

Customer age verification
Cannabis can only be purchased by:
Adult-use customers age 21 and older
Medicinal patients age 18 or older with a physician’s recommendation

Retailers must verify the age of their customers by checking their ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:
Government-issued photo ID card, such as a driver’s license
